I’ll never forget the moment the doctor said he had bad news to share with us. My heart sank. Time slowed down. And if I'm completely honest, it felt like the worst nightmare ever. My world just shattered. I felt broken and defeated.

A hard reality is that most of the times we don't stop to think that bad things can happen to us. I mean, we all know bad things can happen to us at any time, but we don't truly stop think. Bad things can actually happen to us at any time and without warning.

But there I was thinking to myself. This isn’t happening, this is just a bad dream and anytime I’ll be waking up now. But it wasn't. This wasn't a nightmare, it was real. It was happening and no matter how many times my mind attempted to tell me I would eventually wake up, I didn't because I was already awake. It was hard. It was real.

Maybe you’ve felt the same way before. Maybe you’re still looking for answers. Maybe you’ve been trying to "Move On" and that just doesnt seem to be working out. Or you’ve tried to "Give it some time to heal" but it just doesn’t seem to work. And so Maybe your still wondering if you’ll be able to find peace.

Dear friend, I want you to know that you can find peace. You can free yourself from anxiety. You don’t have to continue to feel defeated, scared or broken. You can find peace, joy, love and comfort. You can live knowing that everything will work for good. Where you don’t fear what tomorrow may bring.

And guess what? You can actually be excited about the future. You can embrace the unknown and find hope through your circumstance. I know this because I’ve experienced this myself. More importantly though, here is what the Bible has to say.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulations. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

The truth is, you can find peace, you can free yourself from anxiety and you can be excited about the future even while experiencing the toughest of times. But you have to look for it in the right place. More precisely, you have to look for it in the right person.

So, be encouraged and cast all your anxiety on Him who can actually carry them.

From a fellow Abounding Peace Dad, I pray that you may find comfort and freedom from anxiety.
